Description

As a Band 7 SALT, you will take a leading role in assessing, diagnosing, and delivering specialist interventions for patients with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties. You will also provide clinical supervision to junior staff, ensuring high standards of care and promoting best practices across the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct specialist assessments and provide evidence-based treatment for patients with a range of speech, language, communication, and/or swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans, setting measurable goals to support patient progress.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Provide clinical supervision, training, and mentorship to junior SALTs, assistants, and students.
  • Work collaboratively with patients, families, carers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective care delivery.
  • Develop and implement service improvement initiatives, including audits, evaluations, and quality assurance processes.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records, adhering to professional standards and organizational guidelines.
  • Contribute to staff development and support team learning through training sessions and case discussions.
  • Safeguard patient well-being and promote a positive, patient-centered approach to therapy.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Significant post-graduate experience in speech and language therapy, ideally in a Band 6 or Band 7 role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex caseloads for either paediatric or adult patients.
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff or students.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-working skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize caseloads.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current evidence-based practices and national guidelines.
