Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Locum Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our esteemed Acute and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. This role is ideal for a professional passionate about providing exceptional care to stroke patients and contributing to their rehabilitation and recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions for patients within the Acute and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to enhance patients' functional abilities and promote independence.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and speech therapists, to deliver holistic patient care.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.
  • Utilize a range of therapeutic techniques and equipment to support patients' recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families on stroke recovery, rehabilitation strategies, and adaptive techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to data protection standards.
  • Participate in case conferences, discharge planning, and follow-up appointments to ensure continuity of care.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in stroke rehabilitation and occupational therapy practices through continuous professional development.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Proven experience working in an acute and hyper acute stroke unit or a similar setting.
  • Strong clinical skills in occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
