Description
As a Locum Band 6 Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive speech and language therapy assessments and interventions for children and young people in mainstream school settings who have speech and language therapy provisions identified on their Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed assessments of children and young people's speech, language, and communication needs.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans to address identified needs.
- Work closely with school staff, parents, carers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to therapy.
- Provide regular updates and reports on patients' progress.
- Travel to different school settings to deliver therapy, ensuring the consistency and continuity of care.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings and contribute to the development of EHCPs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Stay informed about the latest developments and best practices in paediatric speech and language therapy.
Requirements:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy with HCPC registration.
- Experience working with children and young people, ideally in school settings (though this is not essential).
- Good knowledge and experience of the EHCP/SEND process.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an MDT.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel to various school settings.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
