Description

We are seeking a Locum Clinical Psychologist to join our Adult Learning Disability Team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced psychologist to work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the assessment, treatment, and care of adults with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychological assessments and interventions for adults with learning disabilities, tailoring care plans to meet individual needs
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as CBT, behavioral management strategies, and person-centered therapy
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care
  • Offer consultation and guidance to other professionals, supporting them in managing complex cases and contributing to holistic care plans
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments, providing recommendations for managing challenging behavior
  • Liaise with families and caregivers, offering psychoeducation and support to help them better understand and manage the needs of individuals with learning disabilities
  • Participate in clinical reviews, case conferences, and team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with professional and organizational policies
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives within the Adult Learning Disability Team
  • Provide supervision and support to assistant psychologists and trainee psychologists within the team

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent), accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS)
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Experience working with adults with learning disabilities, ideally within a community or clinical setting
  • Strong clinical skills in psychological assessment, formulation, and therapeutic interventions
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with service users, families, and colleagues
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices, risk management, and relevant legal frameworks
