Description
We are seeking a Locum Clinical Psychologist to join our Adult Learning Disability Team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced psychologist to work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the assessment, treatment, and care of adults with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide psychological assessments and interventions for adults with learning disabilities, tailoring care plans to meet individual needs
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as CBT, behavioral management strategies, and person-centered therapy
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care
- Offer consultation and guidance to other professionals, supporting them in managing complex cases and contributing to holistic care plans
- Conduct functional behavior assessments, providing recommendations for managing challenging behavior
- Liaise with families and caregivers, offering psychoeducation and support to help them better understand and manage the needs of individuals with learning disabilities
- Participate in clinical reviews, case conferences, and team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with professional and organizational policies
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives within the Adult Learning Disability Team
- Provide supervision and support to assistant psychologists and trainee psychologists within the team
Requirements:
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent), accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS)
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Experience working with adults with learning disabilities, ideally within a community or clinical setting
- Strong clinical skills in psychological assessment, formulation, and therapeutic interventions
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with service users, families, and colleagues
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices, risk management, and relevant legal frameworks
