Description
As a Locum Biomedical Scientist specializing in Histology, you will play a pivotal role in our pathology laboratory, performing a range of histological techniques to analyze tissue samples. Your responsibilities will include processing tissue specimens, embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting slides for microscopic examination. You will work closely with pathologists and healthcare professionals to provide precise diagnostic information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processing tissue samples using standard histological techniques.
- Embedding tissue specimens in paraffin blocks and preparing thin sections for microscopic analysis.
- Performing routine and specialized staining techniques to highlight tissue structures and abnormalities.
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results and adherence to quality standards.
- Documenting procedures, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent qualification.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in histology laboratory practice, including tissue processing, embedding, and staining techniques.
- Strong knowledge of histological procedures, tissue morphology, and quality control measures.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
