Description
As a Locum Band 6 or 7 Podiatrist, you will provide high-quality podiatric care, working closely with patients to assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of foot and lower limb conditions. Depending on your experience level, you will manage a complex caseload, provide advanced treatments, and contribute to the development of the podiatry service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a range of foot and lower limb conditions, including high-risk patient groups such as those with diabetes, vascular disorders, and musculoskeletal issues.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including wound care, nail surgery, orthotic therapy, and patient education.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including physiotherapists, doctors, and nurses, to ensure holistic patient care.
- Provide specialist advice and support to patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in the evaluation and development of clinical practices and protocols to enhance service delivery.
- Supervise and support junior podiatrists, students, and other team members as required (Band 7).
- Contribute to clinical audits, research, and service improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in Podiatry and current HCPC registration.
- Experience working as a Band 6 or Band 7 Podiatrist in a clinical setting.
- Expertise in managing complex cases, including wound care, biomechanics, and high-risk foot conditions.
- Excellent clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A proactive and flexible approach to patient care.
- Experience in nail surgery and prescribing (if applicable) is advantageous.
