Description

The Nursing Associate role works at a level above health care support workers and have an in-depth understanding about factors that influence health and ill health. They will develop additional skills and knowledge based on the work of the pre-assessment clinic to support registered professionals within the team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Face to face patient assessments: Taking a holistic history, base line observations. Phlebotomy. Swabbing. Giving pre-operative advice. Ensuring a discharge plan is in place.
Following up and acting on results. Discussing issues with the MDT, including working with anaesthetists and consultants.
Pre-operative problem solving, answering multiple daily queries into the department.
Maintain excellent communication with patients and relatives
Maintain clear concise and legible documentation adhering to standards in accordance with hospital policies.
Provide the highest standards of nursing care as required within our care settings in partnership with Registered Nurses.
Perform the role of ‘Link role’.
Nursing Associates to comply with the requirements for NMC revalidation.
To attend hospital orientation programmes and mandatory training sessions.
To be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness.
To contribute to annual appraisal and be responsible for own personal performance/ development.
To participate in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
To be responsible for identification of own training needs including the safe use and management of equipment provided for use.
